Exam period is here again and as usual I cannot bring myself to start revising... So in my procrastinating state I started playing around with make-up.  On pinterest the other day I saw the most gorgeous MAC eyeshadow combo so I thought I'd give it a go

Yesterday in Primark I came across the cutest bunny PJ thing, it's sort of a nighty.  It has bunny ears and is the most adorable and cosy thing I've ever bought!

Night out make-up featuring Urban Decay's Naked 3 Palette! | Dark eyes and a nude lip

I was going out for my cousin's 28th birthday night out last night and decided to film how I was doing my make up.  Obviously it's no where near perfect because I'm definitely not professional and I went out of shot a lot!  But gave it a good first effort :)

Vamp Look | Halloween 2014

The other day I was watching velvetgh0st on YouTube and fell in love with her dramatic grunge makeup look.  I thought I'd try it out myself with different colours that I actually own and here's the outcome!  I'll be wearing this on Friday for Hallowe'en.  My mum absolutely loved it and said she would even wear it on a normal night out!

I started by using NARS Sheer Glow in 'Deuxville',  tried my best to chisel some cheek bones using Benefit's 'Hoola' Bronzer and filled in my brows with a MAC's 'Omega' and some 'Charcoal Brown'.

For eyes I used the post-it note trick (where you like up a post it note from the corner of your eye to the end of your brow) to achieve the perfect winged out eyeshadow.  I started by packing on MAC's 'Plum Dressing' on the inner part of my eye, then MAC's Nocturnelle in the outer V.  Then I started to build up Urban Decay's 'Creep' eyeshadow and blend it out making it super smokey and to the intensity I liked.  I took all three of those colours on my lower lash line too.  To wing out my eyes I used Maybelline's Gel Liner in Black, using Topshop's black kohl liner on my waterline and got voluminous lashes with Too Faced's 'Better Then Sex' mascara.  I lined my lips using MAC 'Cherry' lipliner then used MAC's 'Rebel' lipstick - these are two very different shades of red but I really liked the effect it gave - a crisp lighter line around the lips.

Really regret not taking a better picture of the eyeshadow now!

Everyday Makeup Routine | MAC, Rimmel, Mally, Revlon, Urban Decay, NYC

Hi there! So I know Zoe has already done a Spring Time Makeup look, but I wanted to share my everyday routine with you all as I have recently changed a few products which I am now currently loving! Like Zoe, I will usually do a subtle bronzed/golden eye-shadow look if I have time, but recently due to work commitments I have just had a quick 10 minutes to do my makeup everyday meaning it has been simplified. So here it is...

After my shower, where I use my Sephora Cleanser to clean my face (I use a make up wipe - Simple Skin - before my shower as I am terrible for taking my make up off the night before!!) I will prime my skin using the Rimmel London Stay Matte Primer in 003. I have been using this for around 4 weeks now and have only used a quarter of the tube, but I definitely feel that my skin is much softer and although it says nothing about helping spots, I recently had a small break out and it has cleared it all up  so I feel that it definitely helped with that! 

This primer helps to control shine for up to 8 hours and helps minimise pores. I will just put around a 20p size on my middle fingers and then rub into my face in circular motions. I recommended this as it is great and just under £6! 

Once this has dried in, I will then do one of the following three steps depending on how my skin is looking. 

ONE ---- If I am having a good day, I will go straight to using my MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural powder in Medium. I used to live by this powder until I found it was too much money, but due to a new job last summer I decided to repurchase as I had some more cash to spend! It is £20, but a dupe for it which I love as well is the Rimmel London Stay Matte Powder (I used the shade Sand) which is part of the same range as the primer and foundation which I sometimes use! 

TWO ---- If my skin is looking a bit dull if I have maybe had a bad sleep or just not been being very active or healthy recently, I will use the Rimmel London Wake Me Up foundation in shade True Ivory 103 (around £8.99). I am on my 6th bottle of this so I would definitely recommend this to everyone!!! I was wary of it at first due to the light reflecting particles in it, but after many YouTubers raving on about it I thought I would give it a go and I'm not going back!  It brightens my skin and just gives me an all over natural glow which I think looks fantastic at any time of the year, but especially in the winter months! I will apply this using my Real Techniques Buffing Brush (in the core set - £25). I follow this up with my MAC powder (see ONE).

THREE ---- If I have a long day at work or am not able to touch up my make up at all I will use the Rimmel London Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation in True Ivory 103. I apply this again with my Real Techniques Buffing Brush after i have made around 20 dots of it around my face. The only problem I have with this foundation, is I would say it has to be blended in a lot to make sure there are no lines. Again I will then apply my MAC powder on top.

After choosing one of the above steps, I will use my Urban Decay Flushed Palette which I got from my "secret" santa from my friend (thanks zoe!!). I use my S.I.L.K PRO Contour BC120 brush to apply the bronzer to my hollows of my cheeks, my hairline on my forehead, my temples and also to define my nose. 

I then use the blush in this palette with my Real Techniques Blush brush. It is very pigmented on my skin tone so I always gradually build it up.

Next I fill in my brows (my favourite part) using my Sleek Duo Brow in Light. One side is a spooly which I use to brush my brows into place, which I follow up by using the waxy side to fill them in is small strokes and finally brush back through to remove excess! This step takes under a minute so at £7 I recommend this product!

For eyes, I use Creep in the Naked Basics palette (Urban Decay) to line my lash line which a Real Techniques Accent Brush, followed by using either NYC Big Curl (dupe for Falsies by Maybelline ) or NYC Big Bold Volume (dupe for Maybelline Rocket Volume) (£1.99 each).

Finally, last but not least, on my lips I use either Mally Pilar Pink (QVC), Rimmel London Kate Moss shade 16, Revlon 027 Juicy Papaya or Bourjois Rouge Edition 03 with a quick topping of Carmex to help it last.

Artdeco Eyeshadow Quad

Yesterday myself and Zoe went to the Scottish Beauty Show which was held in Edinburgh over the 24th March and 25th March. There were lots of exhibitors including the likes of Artdeco, Airbase, Elimis and Fakebake to name a few. All the companies have great discounts on their products and it was definitely worth going to! 

Whilst there, I spent a while at the Artdeco stall and picked up 4 lovely eye-shadows and a palette to keep them in. These are great dupes for high end make up shades which I will go into more detail about later on. One retailer which sells these is Debenhams so head over there to take a look for yourself. They retail at just a little over £5 in the UK, but are the Scottish Beauty Show I grabbed them at a mere £3.20 - what a bargain!

The eye-shadows are fairly small, but are very pigmented meaning they will last a long time. I have tried out several looks with them whilst practicing using them and feel that Pearly Snow Grey, Golden Highlights and Pearly Light Brown look fabulous together, while Rosy Heart Throb is great if i was to add subtle pink hint to my eye look that day. 

Once I got home I decided to compare these four shades to that of Naked 1 and Naked 3 by Urban decay and found that they were great dupes (all left Artdeco and right Urban Decay in the swatches below). 

Pearly Snow Grey is one of the favourties from my selection. It will be great as a brow bone highlighter and in the inner corner. It is a whiteish shimmer which looks great for getting a good highlight. I feel that with the Naked palettes, the highlight colour is more yellow toned normally, but Pearly White Snow and Virgin (N1) are fairly good matches. 

Golden Hightlights is a golden eye-shadow like it says in the name! Again it is very pigmented and can be applied lightly and built up to the desired effect. It looks great in the crease for an everyday look as it isn't too shimmery, but not matte either. It is very similar to Trick (N3) which is virtually the same colour, so a fabulous dupe for this Naked 3 palette shade.

Pearly Light Brown in my opinion is more of a medium to dark brown toned eye-shadow. It is very pigmented and you need a tiny amount which is buildable if you feel you would like to add more. It looks great in the crease if you are choosing a dark smokey eye look or the outer corner for a lighter smokey eye. I matched it with Mugshot (N3) which is less pigmented but would have the overall same effect when Pearly Light Brown is applied lightly. 

Rosy Heart Throb is a pinky shade with hints of gold throughout. Whilst it is shimmery, it is a subtle shimmer meaning that it would work perfectly with matte and other shimmered eye-shadows. I matched it with Dust (N3) which is slightly more bronzey but still s good match.

                                       

Overall, I would say these are definitely eye-shadows that are worth picking up if you are looking for a new company that makes some, of if you are looking for a cheaper alternative to some of the Urban Decay or even MAC eye-shadows!

Spring Makeup Look | Mac, Maybelline, L'oreal, Revlon

Today, I went out for dinner with my two friends from University and wanted to try a new make-up look.  The other week, I got some new MAC lipsticks and one that I had yet to try was "Costa Chic", so I thought I'd give it a try today along with a shimmery eyeshadow look.  Here's the result!

I think that this is a really fresh faced look perfect for Spring time.  Here's how I achieved it -

Firstly I applied Revlon PhotoReady Skinlights Face Illuminator in the colour 'Pink'.  Since my skin hasn't had any sun on it since last September, it's looking really dull at the moment!  The face illuminator really evens out my skin with "light-capturing crystals" and has a really pretty effect.

Next, I applied Rimmel Stay Matte foundation in 'Ivory'.  This is a fantastic foundation for oil control that leaves a matte finish on my face all day.  A little goes a long way with this foundation, I get a great coverage from less than a pea size amount.  Then I applied Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in 'Cool Medium' under my eyes and on any blemishes.  To set the foundation and concealer, I used Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation in 'Silky Beige.'

On the apples of my cheeks I applied my current favourite blusher, 'Melba' by MAC.  I find the soft coral colour gives a really healthy glow and would look great on all skin tones.

To highlight, I used MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in 'Soft and Gentle' on my cheek and brow bones.  This is a well loved highlighter by many beauty bloggers because it leaves such a beautiful and natural finish on the skin.

To fill in my brows, I used 'Omega' MAC eyeshadow on an angled brush, and feathered it through my brows.  This was a recommendation in a video by Tanya Burr, and it is the best brow filler I have ever had!  I used to find it very difficult to find one I liked that went with my blonde hair.

Next is my favourite part about doing make up... the eyes!!

I've recently started a MAC eyeshadow pallette and I can honestly say, they are the best eyeshadows ever!!  The pigmentation is fantastic, they are so easy to blend and just look so pretty on!

Firstly I primed my eyes with my trusty Urban Decay Primer Potion.

All over the lid, I used 'Jest' by MAC, which is very similar to a personal favourite eyeshadow of mine 'Sin' by Urban Decay.  It's a very soft pink shimmer with a frost finish.

Blended through my outer corner and brought slightly through the crease I used MAC 'All That Glitters'.  This is a beautiful soft rose gold shimmer that actually looks darker in the crease than it would if worn on the lid!  I think that 'Jest' and 'All That Glitters' complement each other extremely well to create a simple but really pretty shimmery neutral eye look.  To highlight my inner corner I used MAC 'Nylon' which is the perfect shimmery tear duct highlight.  Nylon really brightens up a lot of eye looks and is my go-to inner corner highlight.

To line my top eyelid I used L'oreal Ultra Precision Superliner.  This was a product I bought without any recommendation and I am now hooked.  It's the easiest liquid liner to apply that I've ever bought!  No smudges, no wonky lines, just a perfect straight line.  The sponge tip makes it really easy to wing out the outer corners too!  It's just the best liquid liner ever.  Go and buy it right now.

For my top and bottom lashes I used Maybelline The Falsies mascara which gives amazing length and volume.

For lips, I used MAC 'Costa Chic'.  I am in love with it!! Costa Chic is really  the only orange toned lip product I have ever bought, I usually steer clear of oranges.  But this one has definitely changed me!  It's a fantastic coral colour with a frost finish, so it has a shimmer to it which I have never really experienced in a lipstick.  One thing I will say is that because the weather is still fairly cold wear I live, it slightly filled in the cracks in my lips.  However, it wasn't enough to be noticeable.

I love this look!  Will definitely be wearing this a lot through Spring and Summer time.
